Surface Operations
On-water safety patrols, regatta patrols, search and rescue, and Coast Guard support missions are part of the Operations mission. As a member of the Auxiliary, you could be trained to qualify as Coxswain, Boat Crew, or Communications Watchstander and work with the Coast Guard as part of TEAM COAST GUARD.
All boating season long, members of Flotilla 12-8 may be seen on the water in the Greater Charleston and surrounding areas. This is the area served by Coast Guard Station Charleston. Each Auxiliary vessel carries several Auxiliarists and displays the patrol signboards shown on the patrol vessel on the left.
In
addition, each vessel "under orders" is considered
a vessel of the United States Coast Guard and flies the
distinctive Patrol Ensign (flag) shown at the right.
